Time-honored pinch-hitters Cab Sauv, Cab Franc & Merlot get a little help from cameo appearances by their friends Zinfandel & Chenin Blanc, Chenin bringing a bit of glossy shine to the dinner party, Zinfandel an extra serving of juicy red fruit. As with the Astral Blend, each grape is fermented and aged separately, which gives us more pronounced varietal character from each grape. As always, Cab Sauv tends to be the lead singer of the band, the extroverted Leo who you can’t help but stare at when you first walk in the room. This wine is overarchingly green in the best possible way, juniper berry & pine, a walk through a forest in the middle of November, when the air is impossibly clear and every scent seems so vivid. This wine absolutely delivers on the promise of a Bordeaux blend, lusciously black-fruited & creeping towards full-bodied, but at the same time manages to retain the airy drinkability that is so synonymous with Les Lunes’ wines. Wild blueberry jam, fresh picked strawberry, still covered in dirt.
